Oneworld Alliance Updates 7/2/2012

AirBerlin (AB)

AB is canceling service from Dusseldorf (DUS) to Helsinki (HEL) on 10/16/2012.

AB is canceling service from Hamburg (HAM) to Baden-Baden (FKB) and Zurich (ZRH) on 11/1/2012.

American Airlines (AA)

AA has updated its online booking tool and now allows customers to book award tickets on Qantas (QF) via the web.  LINK.

AA has opened Flagship Check-In service at the Miami International Airport (MIA).  Use of MIA’s Flagship Check-In service is limited to ConciergeKey members, First class customers on 3-class transcontinental service to Los Angeles (LAX), First class customers on 3 or 4-class international service on AA or select partners (BA/CX/JL/QF), and individuals who purchase AA’s Five Star Service.  LINK.

British Airways (BA)

BA will start 3x daily service from London Gatwick (LGW) to Barcelona (BCN) on February 23, 2012 using Boeing 737 aircraft.

BA is canceling service from London Heathrow (LHR) to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (ADD) following acquisition of the route from BMI (BD).

BA is downgauging flights to Tel Aviv (TLV) in the Winter from existing wide-body Boeing 767s to narrow-body Airbus 320s.  LINK.

Iberia (IB)

IB (Air Nostrum) is starting service from Barcelona (BCN) to Valencia (VLC) on 9/3/2012 using Bombardier CJR200 aircraft.

Japan Airlines (JL)

JL has released an updated award chart that will take effect 10/1/2012.  LINK.

JL has announced plans to equip some of its Boeing 777-300ER planes with inflight wifi.  The first flights with wifi service, which JL has branded “JAL SKY”, will be between Tokyo Narita (NRT) and New York John F Kennedy (JFK) on alternating days beginning 7/15/2012.  Service will be expanded to include Chicago O’Hare (ORD), Los Angeles (LAX), and Jakarta (CGK) in October and Frankfurt (FRA), London Heathrow (LHR), and Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) in Spring 2013.  LINK.

Malaysia Airlines (MH)

oneworld member-elect MH’s inaugural A380 flight departed from MH’s hub in Kuala Lumpur (KUL) and landed safely at LHR.  LINK.

MH will start 3x weekly service from KUL to Kathmandu, Nepal (KTM) on 9/1/2012 on Boeing 737 aircraft.

Royal Jordanian (RJ)

RJ has named Amer Hadidi as the replacement for recently departed President and CEO Hussein Dabbas.  Hadidi previously served several times as Jordan’s Minister of Industry and Trade.  LINK.
