American Airlines (AA)
AA and Air Tahiti Nui (TN) will seek approval for a code share agreement. If approved, AA flight numbers will appear on TN flights from Los Angeles (LAX) to Papeete (PPT). LINK.
AA is adding a third daily flight between Miami (MIA) and Buenos Aires (EZE) starting 10/28/2012 using Boeing 777 aircraft.
AA has reduced its schedule between Boston Logan (BOS) and London Heathrow (LHR) to 1 daily evening departure using Boeing 757 aircraft.
British Airways (BA)
BA will start 3x a week service from London Gatwick (LGW) to Las Vegas (LAS) on 10/28/2012 using Boeing 777 aircraft. This will compliment existing daily service from London Heathrow (LHR).
South African Airways (SA) will discontinue service between London Heathrow (LHR) and Cape Town, South Africa (CPT). BA will now be the only year-round operator on this route. LINK.
Cathay Pacific (CX)
CX will increase existing service between Hong Kong (HKG) and Chennai (MAA) to daily service starting 8/31/2012 using Airbus A330 aircraft.
CX will be replacing Boeing 747 aircraft on its Hong Kong (HKG) to Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) route with Boeing 773ER aircraft starting 9/1/2012.
Finnair (AY)
AY technical staffers have started a 1 week strike to protest plans to outsource some services. The strike is expected to have some impact on flight operations, but will not be a major issue. LINK.
Iberia (IB)
IB’s service to Accra, Ghana will start operation on 7/17/2012. Service was initially scheduled to being 6/1/2012.
Japan Airlines (JL)
JL will begin offering domestic First class service on some flights between Tokyo Haneda (HND) and Naha, Okinawa (OKA) beginning 8/1/2012. LINK.
Malaysia Airlines (MH)
Member-elect MH took delivery of its first Airbus A380 aircraft on 5/29/2012, becoming the 8th operator of this aircraft type in the world. Once MH becomes a full fledged member of oneworld, they will become the 2nd operator of the A380 in the alliance after QF. LINK.
Qantas (QF)
QF will again use Boeing 747 aircraft on some of its domestic Sydney Kingsford (SYD) to Perth (PER) flights starting in July 2012.
S7 Airlines (S7)
S7 will start service from Novosibirsk (OVB) to Munich (MUC) beginning 12/23/2012 on Sundays using Boeing 737 aircraft.
