Cathay Pacific’s ‘The Wing’ Lounge & Dan Dan Mien

It’s really no secret – I’m a Cathay Pacific (CX) fan.  With polished flight attendants, one of the more solid premium cabin hard products in the sky, and a route network that takes passengers to some of the most interesting and exotic locales in Asia, what’s not to love?  Based in Hong Kong and flying to 5 continents across the globe, CX is a classy airline that blends Asian hospitality with modern sensibility.

With that in mind, it’s no suprise to me that Jaunted.com seems to be mildly obsessed with CX lately.  Take for example this photo essay they published yesterday (LINK), which does a nice job of showcasing some of the updated furnishings and service offerings CX is providing through the business class section of its recently renovated ‘The Wing’ Lounge.  As a oneworld Emerald status holder, I’ve frequently visited many of CX’s lounges worldwide, including several visits to ‘The Wing’ in Hong Kong.

While its an enjoyable location to stock up on dim sum, take a quick shower, and relax between flights, I do have to admit that ‘The Wing’ was started to show its age.  Even in their glory days, CX lounges paled when compared to those offered by a few other airlines (Qantas’ First Lounge in Sydney comes to mind), but they remained a solid product that many found enjoyable.  These updates will allow CX to continue providing a quality product to premium cabin passengers and airline elites alike.

In addition to the updated furnishings, CX has added a few new features to ‘The Wing’ that are outlined in the article:

These renovations to the business class section of ‘The Wing’ were completed at the beginning of the year.  The first class section of ‘The Wing’ is currently closed for renovations with CX anticipating completion at the end of the 4th quarter in 2012.

While the renovated lounge received quite a bit of love from Jaunted, they also published a small tribute to another much lauded CX offering for premium and frequent fliers: the dan dan mien from CX’s Noodle Bar (LINK).  Check it out for a short but sweet love letter to one of the better edible offerings found in an airline lounge.
